Ladies at Conchas Baptist Have

Meet-Up

A group of ladies had a special meeting at the church for testimonies, fellowship, and food on June 20. There were ladies in attendance that do not normally attend the church. The members told the pastor, Tom Irwin, that it was a very good/successful day!

Notes From Our

Director of Missions

I hope you had a great day in the Lord in worship and Bible Study last Sunday.  I led worship at Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis for Roy Martin as he and his wife traveled in Europe, and it was a wonderful time.

In the invitation I saw a wonderful response that demonstrated the power of both Summer ministries and cooperation in our association.  A mother and daughter came forward, the daughter to share her decision to follow Christ as Lord and Savior.  She made the decision during the Vacation Bible School in a SISTER congregation in Clovis, and came forward with her mother to share the decision in her HOME church.

This young lady's decision was one of several that were shared in the invitation Sunday at Parkland.  It was a blessing to be a part of it, and I am grateful for our churches that work so hard to share the Gospel with children through VBS this Summer.  Lives are being impacted through ministry!

At Conchas Baptist Church Sunday a number of folks were baptized in the lake.  Pastor Tom Irwin shared some pictures with me.

What a blessing to see the Lord at work in people's lives, and to celebrate that work in the beauty of His Creation.  Thank you, Tom, for sharing these with us.

Here are  some pictures of this week's Clovis and Tucumcari areas Ministers' Fellowships.

This coming Saturday the Hispanic Pastors Fellowship will meet at 11:45 am at Hong Kong Restaurant in Portales.  These times food and fun are a blessing to me.

For the month of July I would like to host each of these fellowships in our home.  Here are the dates for the July fellowships:

* July 9, 6 pm:  Portales area pastors and wives.

* July 11, 1 pm:  Tucumcari area pastors and wives. Note this is on a Saturday - I thought it might be easier to make the drive rather than on a week-night.

* July 16, 6 pm: Clovis area pastors and wives.

* We will be working on a date Saturday for the Hispanic Fellowship.

We are looking forward to having everyone in our home for these July fellowships.  Mark the dates and plan on joining us.  I would like those who have kids to please bring them also.  We will take care of the meal, and it will be a blessing to us to host everyone in our home.

If you did not get a chance to read it, look at this article from The Baptist New Mexican about the recent Mission Trip that Mario Navarro led to Honduras. We are working on our next planning meeting to discuss a future vision trip to Honduras to consider mission partnership opportunities.  You may read the article online here:

Honduras Mission Trip

Stay tuned for a date and time for our next Honduras meeting.  We can do more through cooperating TOGETHER on missions projects than we could ever do ALONE.

One final thing:  Be sure you have marked on your calendars the Pastor Retreat on Saturday, September 12 with Richard Blackaby.  I have heard back from a few pastors about topics or questions they would like to study, but there is still time to share your thoughts.  Email me about any particular area you would like to see us cover in our sessions with Richard that morning.  I had a friend share with me last week a testimony of how the Lord blessed him through a session exactly like what we will share in September.  I am excited about this event. Make sure to mark the date on your calendars.

These are busy weeks of ministry but I am hearing wonderful testimonies of the Lord working in hearts and lives through camps, VBS, worship and Bible Study in our churches.  Join me in praying for a continued movement of the Holy Spirit through our churches and their ministries this Summer!

Have a great week in the Lord!

The Book of the Week is God and Government: A Biblical, Historical, and Constitutional Perspective by Gary DeMar (2011-05-04). It is listed with God and Government portion of the Theology tab:  Good Books section on our website.

Nearly forty years ago, amid the rapid dissolution of the American moral fabric after Roe v. Wade, an old truth started gaining new life in America. It was the truth that had once made America great, but one which she had forgotten—that the Bible is not a collection of disconnected moralisms for private application, but rather a comprehensive guide for all of life, a blueprint for the private and public conduct of all individuals and nations. In 1982, the three-volume God and Government series fanned the flames of this national worldview awakening, establishing that the character of a nation and its people depends on their relationship with God as revealed in Holy Scripture. Relying on clear historical and biblical research, author Gary DeMar demonstrated how America had been great and how she could be great again. The series quickly became a staple in the Christian curriculum. For decades, in the hands of countless teachers, parents, and students, the books educated minds young and old in the Christian history of America, the origin and foundation of government, the biblical principles of authority, and the basis and necessity of Christian political activism. But the work of reviving America is far from finished, and Americans need to hear—now more than ever—the biblical and historical truths explained in God and Government. Now thirty years later, American Vision has thoroughly renovated, revised, and updated Gary DeMar’s monumental work into this beautiful one-volume hardback. With a fresh new look, more images, an extensive subject and scripture index, and an updated bibliography, God and Government is ready to prepare a whole new generation to take on the political and religious battles confronting Christians today. May it be used in a new awakening of Christians in America—not just to inform minds, but to stimulate action and secure a better tomorrow for our posterity.
