Special-Called Association Meeting
The Moderator of our Executive Board, Rusty Kenyon, has called for a special association meeting for March 28, 2026 at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church House. The purpose of the meeting is to have messengers vote on the Director of Missions Search Committee's recommended candidate for our next Director of Missions, Damon Pearce.
It is not too late to provide names of your church's messengers! Do it on-line at triareaba.org or email or text Elaine with those names and provide the name of your church, too (tri.area.baptist.association@gmail.com or 575-714-7788.)
Since we are Baptists, we probably couldn't get together without having a meal! So the association will provide brisket prepared by Steve Davis. The churches are asked to provide sides, salads, and desserts. The type of dish requested is based on geographic location.

Tucumcari area churches are asked to provide sides. Clovis area churches are asked to provide salads. Portales area churches are asked to provide desserts. A local FFA group will assist in serving and cleaning up after the meal in order for all the church members to fully participate in the meeting.

Sandia Gifts Piano to Prince St

As part of it's revitalization process, Sandia Church has moved away from utilizing more traditional instruments in the worship services. They previously gave their organ to a school organization and recently made their Kawai grand piano available. Dean Turvaville, lead pastor at Sandia, contacted Elaine in the association office to ask if she knew of a church in need of a piano.
About the same time, Prince Street's electric piano began having issues and was going to have to be sent away for repair which was expected to take several months. When approached with the possibility of receiving Sandia's piano, Prince Street's pastor, Tommy Hohstadt got in touch with leadership at Sandia. An agreement was reached and the following Saturday a team of "heavy lifters" moved the piano from Sandia to Prince St.
The people of Prince Street are very grateful for this blessing of God provided thru Sandia. We applaud Sandia's spirit of collaboration - one of the 6 C's of Tri-Area Baptist Association.

"The Harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." Matthew 9:35-38 (CSB)
On September 26, 2026, the One Day Mission Trip will step into two communities where the harvest is immense and the need for the gospel is undeniable. The two areas that will be the focus for this mission trip are Roswell and the East Mountains area. Truly these fields are ripe for harvest and this day of mission is a call to labor faithfully so that many may come to know the joy of salvation.

The Book of the Week is Theology of the Reformers by Timothy George. It is listed in the Church History and Historical Theology - The Reformation in the Good Books section under the Encourage tab on the Tri-Area website.

First released in 1988, this 25th Anniversary Edition of Timothy George’s Theology of the Reformers includes a new chapter and bibliography on William Tyndale, the reformer who courageously stood at the headwaters of the English Reformation. Also included are expanded opening and concluding chapters and updated bibliographies on each reformer.
Theology of the Reformers articulates the theological self-understanding of five principal figures from the period of the Reformation: Martin Luther, Huldrych Zwingli, John Calvin, Menno Simons, and William Tyndale. George establishes the context for their work by describing the spiritual climate of their time. Then he profiles each reformer, providing a picture of their theology that does justice to the scope of their involvement in the reforming effort.
George details the valuable contributions these men made to issues historically considered pillars of the Christian faith: Scripture, Jesus Christ, salvation, the church, and last things. The intent is not just to document the theology of these reformers, but also to help the church of today better understand and more faithfully live its calling as followers of the one true God.
Through and through, George’s work provides a truly integrated and comprehensive picture of Christian theology at the time of the Reformation.
